Modular Design
The Daisy platform is built upon small, simple, and interchangeable modules which enable easy customization and flexible scalability. This versatile system uses a common hardware platform to house different fluidic, sensor and motion components from original equipment manufacturers (OEM). Our partners are well-known OEM providers that manufacture the highest quality components that are trusted by producers of complex life sciences and medical equipment.Â
Each Daisy module is a stand-alone instrument, controllable by the Daisy controller app. However, the true power of the platform is in the way the modules can be networked together (daisy-chained, hence the name) in any order to create meta-instruments. Meta-instruments can be controlled and programmed from the same Daisy controller app. They can also be networked with other meta-instruments to create a fractal, highly scalable system. Each meta-instrument could have up to 256 instruments at once, and you can create as many separate meta-instruments as your computer has USB ports available. The sheer number of possible instrument combinations is virtually limitless.
Limitless Potential and Capabilities
The ability to daisy-chain modules and meta-instruments not only increases the overall capacity of the platform, but also allows for more complex and advanced functionalities whenever needed. By combining different modules and hubs, users can create intricate systems that can handle a wide range of tasks and processes.
A network’s capabilities can quickly be augmented by the addition of new modules in a plug-and-play fashion. For instance, the user can easily swap a peristaltic pump with a piston pump in an existing network if a higher dispensing accuracy is desired. The number of pumps can also be scaled up if more dispensing channels are needed. For instance, a kit manufacturer may want to implement a small-scale reagent filling setup for a new customer with small initial orders. The system can then be easily scaled up with minimal engineering overhead as the order sizes increase and more customers are obtained. As such, the Daisy platform presents a highly economical and sustainably scalable option for research and commercial laboratories of all sizes.
The inherent modular design of the Daisy platform ensures that it can grow and adapt alongside the needs of any project or application in life sciences.
