PharMed BPT Tubing Set (for Daisy Peri P)

$147.00

Pharmaceutical-grade BPT tubing provides the highest pumping performance for your Daisy Peri P pump. Tubings for Daisy Peri P pump come with two pre-measured segments between three stoppers — when one segment fatigues, the user can switch to the other for double the tubing lifetime. Simply choose the internal and outer diameters (ID/OD) of the tubing for the maximum flow rate that your application needs. Each package contains 12 tubings, each 16” long.

PharMed BPT tubing is specifically formulated for use in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Its biocompatible fluid surface and exceptional flex life make it ideal for transferring sensitive bioprocessing fluids. This tubing is designed to excel in various applications, including cell harvesting, media processing, vaccine manufacturing, aseptic filling, and diagnostic testing.

One of the standout features of PharMed BPT tubing is its durability. It can withstand repeated clean-in-place (CIP) and steam-in-place (SIP) cleaning and sterilization processes. Additionally, it can be autoclaved up to five times or subjected to gamma irradiation without compromising its overall service life. This tubing’s exceptional flex life and wear properties ensure it outlasts silicone tubing in peristaltic pumps, thereby minimizing downtime due to tubing failures.

PharMed BPT tubing offers excellent gas barrier properties with very low permeability, protecting sensitive fluids from gas ingress. The opaque nature of the tubing also safeguards light-sensitive fluids from visible and UV light exposure. Its thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) composition provides good chemical resistance, although some degradation may occur with long-term exposure to organic solvents, oils, and fuels.

This tubing is USP Class VI and USP compliant, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. It is perfect for general-purpose, laboratory, and single-use scenarios. PharMed BPT tubing is available in various sizes, in order to give the user flexibility in covering the optimal flow rates with the Daisy Peri P pump.

For the nominal flow rates achieved on the Daisy Peri P pump with this set of silicone tubes, visit the “More Information” section of the Daisy Peri P pump.

Even though PharMed BPT tubing is more expensive than silicone tubing, the former outlasts the latter by 30 times longer in peristaltic pumps. It also sheds a lot less particles during the process of pumping into the flow stream, compared to silicone tubing.

Adopted from Saint Gobain.

The process of attaching these tubings to the Peri P pump is rather straightforward, and is explained briefly in the “More Information” section of the Daisy Peri P . It is possible to use micro-tubings other than the ones that Scalables provides with the Daisy Peri P pump. Simply make sure that

  1. The spacing between stoppers is 72 mm.
  2. The wall thickness is below 1.5 mm.

The opening at either end of the Peri P cartridges is approximately 3 mm wide, and is designed to hold the stopper in place. If the tubing wall thickness is more than 1.5 mm, the tubing will get pinched closed, resulting in excessive resistance to flow, tubing break or punctures, and messy leaks, not to mention overworking your Daisy Peri P pump itself. All the PharMed BPT tubing variations that we provide have a wall thickness of 0.86 mm, ensuring no tubing will be pinched when run on this pump (i.e., 2 * wall thickness < 3 mm). We also recommend keeping the maximum outer diameter (OD) in tubing size to 4.5 mm or so.

These tubings can be connected to other PharMed BPT or silicone tubings that we provide to design a flow system. Alternatively, PTFE tubings may be used when stiff tubing downstream of the pump is required.
