Silicone Tubing Set (for Daisy Peri P)

$116.00

Peroxide-cured tubing provides a smooth inner bore and excellent biocompatibility. Tubings for Daisy Peri P pump come with two pre-measured segments between three stoppers — when one segment fatigues, the user can switch to the other for double the tubing lifetime. Simply choose the internal and outer diameters (ID/OD) of the tubing for the maximum flow rate that your application needs. Each package contains 6 tubings, each 16” long.

This silicone tubing is peroxide-cured, featuring an ultra-smooth inner bore, which makes it easy to clean and disinfect. The smooth fluid path also facilitates a cleaner transfer process, as particles and residues are less likely to adhere to the tubing walls. The tubing boasts excellent biocompatibility for sensitive applications, non-cytotoxic, non-pyrogenic, and non-hemolytic, low protein binding, heat-sealable, bondable, sterile-weldable, and custom moldable for assemblies. It is ideal for pharmaceutical, biotech, and general-purpose lab applications, including sterile filling and processing, cell harvest and media process systems, filtration, fermentation, cell and tissue culture transport. It has a clear appearance, and can accommodate a temperature range of –66 to 135 °C. Its pumping life is approximately 1000 hours at 100 rpm.

The silicone tubing has the following regulatory approvals: 3A, ADCF, European Pharmacopoeia, FDA, Non-DEHP, RoHS, and USP.

Silicone is generally chemically inert and is attacked by only a very few common materials. Among them are concentrated sulphuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and, under long-term exposure, high-pressure steam. Silicone rubber also has excellent resistance to solvents and other chemicals. It is essentially unaffected by polar organic compounds (aniline, alcohol, etc.) or dilute acids or bases.

Our preferred peristaltic pump tubing is PharMed BPT, as it simply lasts significantly longer than silicone tubing, more than justifying the slightly higher sticker price over the lifetime of the tube. However, in cases where silicone tubing is needed for chemical compatibility or other performance reasons, we recommend this silicone tubing for the Daisy Peri P pump. We recommend keeping in mind that not all silicone tubing is created equal: contamination of your reagents via chemical leaching from the tubing should always be considered a possibility with silicone tubing obtained from outside of trusted suppliers.

For the nominal flow rates achieved on the Daisy Peri P pump with this set of silicone tubes, visit the “More Information” section of the Daisy Peri P pump.

The process of attaching these tubings to the Peri P pump is rather straightforward, and is explained briefly in the “More Information” section of the Daisy Peri P . It is possible to use micro-tubings other than the ones that Scalables provides with the Daisy Peri P pump. Simply make sure that

  1. The spacing between stoppers is 72 mm.
  2. The wall thickness is below 1.5 mm.

The opening at either end of the Peri P cartridges is approximately 3 mm wide, and is designed to hold the stopper in place. If the tubing wall thickness is more than 1.5 mm, the tubing will get pinched closed, resulting in excessive resistance to flow, tubing break or punctures, and messy leaks, not to mention overworking your Daisy Peri P pump itself. All the silicone tubing variations that we provide have a wall thickness of 0.86 mm, ensuring no tubing will be pinched when run on this pump (i.e., 2 * wall thickness < 3 mm). We also recommend keeping the maximum outer diameter (OD) in tubing size to 4.5 mm or so.

These tubings can be connected to other silicone or PharMed BPT tubings that we provide to design a flow system. Alternatively, PTFE tubings may be used when stiff tubing downstream of the pump is required.
