Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), more commonly known by its trade name, Teflon®, is a hydrophobic, nonreactive material with a low coefficient of friction. It is among the most chemically inert, nontoxic, and nonflammable materials used in laboratory settings, making it ideal for a wide range of reagents. PTFE tubing also has non-stick properties, preventing material from adhering to the tube and reducing the need for wash solution between runs.

PTFE tubing offers some of the highest working temperatures and chemical resistance available. It can tolerate acids, coolants, and other harsh chemicals across a wide temperature range. Its smooth interior ensures unrestricted flow and easy cleaning. Autoclaving, steam cleaning, and chemical cleaning are all compatible sterilization methods. The tubing is semi-flexible and suitable for gradual bends (minimum bend radius: 5/8” for 1/16” OD tubing; 1” for 1/8” OD).

We recommend using PTFE tubing with manifolds and valve instruments such as Daisy Sol-Val, Multi Valve series, and Daisy Piston. These instruments feature 1/4-28 UNF threaded ports, allowing a single fitting type to be used across systems.

PTFE tubing is available in 25′ increments, as well as pre-assembled tubing with Click-N-Seal fittings made from PEEK and flat-bottom ferrules made from PTFE/Stainless Steel for maximum chemical compatibility and performance.

Click-N-Seal fittings produce an audible click when the correct torque is reached, making it virtually impossible to overtighten connections. They are ideal for systems requiring frequent reconfiguration, as they protect instrument threads while ensuring reliable, leak-free connections.

If alternative fittings are used with Daisy instruments, ensure connections are only finger-tight. Proper fittings help prevent damage to both instrument ports and threads.

PTFE tubing assemblies are available in lengths ranging from 6” to 36”, with both ends fitted with Click-N-Seal fittings and PTFE/Stainless Steel ferrules. If needed, assemblies can be cut to size for custom configurations.

PTFE tubing assemblies can be cleaned and reused multiple times across different applications. Replace tubing if it becomes bent or pinched.
